The Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)- the Arab Army on Thursday launched the army's historical encyclopedia, under the title: 'A History of Heroism and Sacrifice,' at the Martyr's Memorial in Amman, in the presence of Minister of State for Media Affairs Faisal Shboul.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Shboul said the JAF's historical encyclopedia represents an 'original and creative' historical work that reflects Jordan's national memory, which would also fuel scientific research, and provides a 'solid' basis for many cultural, artistic and media works in the future.
Shboul added that the military media is a 'model' for workers in the government correspondence field, and is characterized by the continued keenness to keep pace with and adopt technical developments aimed to transfer institutional expertise and maintain information flow with 'clear' sources.
The encyclopedia features the JAF's heroism and sacrifices in Palestine, especially in Jerusalem, and the 'distinguished' JAF's humanitarian role in peacekeeping missions and field hospitals in a number of brotherly and friendly countries, according to Shboul.
The work also details the JAF's 'pioneering' national development role locally, he pointed out.
For his part, JAF Director of Moral Guidance Directorate, Brigadier Gen. Talal Ali Ghabeen, said the encyclopedia reflects the JAF's 'honorable' history throughout the centennial of the Jordanian state and the army's battles in defense of Jerusalem and Palestine.
The work also highlights the JAF's regional, global and developmental role both in Arabic and English, which was distributed to a number of official and private institutions and global libraries as a reference for researchers, scholars and future generations, Ghabeen pointed out..
