The Ministry of Social Development launched Thursday a 16-day campaign to address gender-based violence, in cooperation with the National Association for Family Empowerment (NAFE), under the slogan 'Towards a Women-Friendly Political Culture', with funding from the Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund.
The Minister of Social Development Ayman Mufleh commended the leading role played by civil society organizations, especially women-led ones, to support women in marginalized communities in various fields.
For her part, the Executive Director of the NAFE Rania Hayyuk stated that the political empowerment of women is highly linked to their economic and social empowerment, adding that the political, economic and social empowerment of women are all necessary to improving their overall status quo in public life, and integrating women in civil and community work.
This year's campaign coincides with the annual International Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence, which kicks off on November 25.
