Minister of Education, Wajih Owais on Wednesday said that the ministry won't back away from the in-class education, while urging everyone to adhere to the health protocol that ensures the realization of a safe and healthy environment in schools.
The minister’s remarks came during a meeting to the ministry's extended planning committee, according to a ministry statement.
Owais called for adhering to the ministry's circulars issued to education directors, which stress the need to meet conditions and requirements of public safety in all schools, and take all necessary measures in accordance with their mandates.
He underlined the importance of emphasizing to public hygiene in schools, especially water tanks and sanitary facilities, calling on school principals to raise the level of awareness and health culture among students through student councils, student parliaments, extracurricular activities and school radios.
Owais announced that the ministry will provide about 8,000 new heaters that will be distributed to all schools in the Kingdom, underscoring the need to clean the water drains, windows, doors and school facilities to prepare for the winter season, in order to ensure a safe school environment for students and teachers inside the school, its facilities and outdoor yards.
