Assistant Secretary-General for Primary Health Care at the Health Ministry, Ghazi Sharkas, said that the ministry has made great achievements with regard to controlling communicable diseases.
Sharkas told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Wednesday evening that the national vaccination program contributed to the full control of diseases included in the program, and the ministry ahs achieved great success in confronting swine flu and Covid-19 pandemics.
Sharkas said the government, represented by all sectors, fulfilled its role in taking decisions and measures to control the Covid-19 pandemic, noting that it provided diagnostic tests and vaccinations, equipped hospitals with isolation rooms, intensive care and ventilators, and provided hospitals with qualified cadres and is constantly working to train more specialized cadres.
He urged citizens to adhere to preventive measures such as wearing masks and distancing, and to receive the vaccine for those who have not yet received it, because the situation requires self-monitoring and personal determination by people, in favor of the public interest, indicating that receiving the two doses of the vaccine by large percentage of people contributed to the remarkable stability in the epidemiological situation for more than ten weeks.
He added that receiving doses contributes to more stability, and everyone has a responsibility to maintain the stability of the epidemiological situation, calling for receiving the two doses of the vaccine and the booster dose for people with low immunity without delay.
Sharkas lauded efforts of the medical staff who stayed up and made tremendous efforts in controlling the pandemic and offered his condolences to those who died in line of duty due to the pandemic.
