Lower House Speaker Abdel Moneim Al-Awdat Tuesday met advisor and envoy of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov to Arab and Islamic countries, Turko Daudov, and an accompanying delegation.
Al-Awdat stressed the deep relations between Jordan and the Russian republic of Chechnya and the need to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the various fields.
He said Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, continues to carry out its religious and historical role in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, based on the Hashemite custodianship over the holy places.
He said that the security and stability of the region hinged on finding a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the historical and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people on their national soil, first and foremost is the right to set up an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Daudov hailed the atmosphere of tolerance and social solidarity in Jordan, expressing hope to strengthen the existing ties between the peoples of Jordan and Chechnya, noting the Kingdom's interest in coordination in its efforts to counter the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
