Minister: Digital ID card to be activated in August
Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed al-Hanandeh, on Thursday said that the Cabinet had approved the 2021-2025 National Strategy for Digital Transformation and its executive plan, which is consistent with national policies and strategies and global digitization trends.
The minister said that the digital ID cards will be activated in August, noting that the activation can be done remotely, but there is a high error rate, as the process requires matching the image within specific dimensions.
The ministry has formed a team for this purpose, he indicated, noting that any Jordanian can see all his/her data and obtain the services that are digitized through the e-government service platform (Sanad).
This strategy aims to enhance transparency and openness, improve the quality of services and make them more effective, sustainable, and reliable, in addition to improving performance efficiency and reducing time and costs among other goals.
It also seeks to strengthen the public-private partnership by supporting the private sector to participate in the design and development of government services.
