Cabinet endorses bylaw regulating academic work practices at Jordanian universities
The Cabinet approved, in its session held on Sunday, headed by Prime Minister, Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, an amended bylaw governing academic work practices at Jordanian universities and colleges for 2021.
Under the new amendments, the period granted to scholarship holders to obtain an academic work leave will be increased, while those who fail to obtain the furlough will face suspension from work for a period not exceeding one year, and their salaries and allowances will be on hold.
Due to merger of companies operating in the Kingdom's banking sector, the Cabinet endorsed a decision issued by the Jordan Investment Commission (JIC) to approve an income tax exemption, stipulated per the applicable Income Tax Law. The Council of Ministers also endorsed an agreement with the Kenyan government in the field of maritime transport, aimed to strengthen relations between the two countries in the commercial maritime traffic, which would reflect on their economic and trade ties.
Filling a high-profile post, the Cabinet decided to appoint Jalal Salem Qudah as Director General of the Customs Department, starting 30/5/2021.
