Ministry to formulate national gender-based violence plan
The Ministry of Social Development on Tuesday held a meeting to kick off the formulation of a national plan to address gender-based violence (GBV), especially violence against women.
While emphasizing Jordan's commitment to ending all forms of GBV, the ministry's secretary-general, Barq Dumour, stressed the need to draw up actionable plans and link them with a GBV strategy developed by the government.
According to a ministry statement, Dumour called for changing public perceptions about GBV and building a safe platform to enable access to services provided to GBV survivors.
Providing protection to survivors and addressing GBV requires a multi-sectoral response, Dumour indicated, adding that public campaigns and education are required to fight GBV.
