Indo-Jordan Chemicals Company opens plant expansion
A new $6 million expansion project began Tuesday at the Indo-Jordan Chemicals Company (IJCLTD) plants, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC).
The new expansion at the company's plants in Al-Sheydia in the southern governorate of Ma'an is hoped to push the company's production of phosphoric acid by 24,000 tons annually and help it recover the expansion cost in a three-year period.
Present at the opening ceremony were Ukrainian ambassador in Amman Shcherbatiuk Myroslava and representatives of a number of Ukrainian phosphates and phosphoric acid manufacturing firms, who were taken in a tour of the company's various facilities by JPMC Chairman Muhammad Thuneibat.
Thuneibat noted that IJCLTD exported last year a total of 266,000 tons of phosphoric acid; the highest since the company's founding. He stressed that the parent company, JPMC, is committed to strengthening its foothold in the global market despite the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.
