Development ministry distributes 30,000 food vouchers to vulnerable households
The Ministry of Social Development distributed 30,000 prepaid food purchase vouchers to 30,000 beneficiary families in all the Kingdom's regions, at a value of JD100 per coupon, on the occasion of His Majesty King Abdullah II's 59th birthday.
In a press statement put out on Sunday, the ministry said the voucher distribution came within the framework of the Royal initiatives to alleviate the difficult conditions on the beneficiary families countrywide, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic-induced implications, to improve the citizens' living standard, and help the underprivileged households meet their basic needs.
The prepaid magnetic vouchers enable the beneficiary families to purchase food and supplies worth JD100 from the military and civilian consumer institutions countrywide, according to the ministry.
The vouchers were distributed to the beneficiaries through 108 centers across the Kingdom, where public health measures and physical distancing were taken into account to ensure the public safety and prevent the virus spread, the statement pointed out.
To ensure transparency, the selection of beneficiary families, the ministry said, was carried out according to a 'clear action plan,' which included an accurate and detailed database and field studies on the reality of the underprivileged households.
