Snowfall is expected on Wednesday in mountainous areas over 900 metres above sea level, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said.
In its updated bulletin on Sunday evening, the JMD expected that the extremely cold air mass accompanying the Wednesday depression will deepen, and is forecast to bring heavy rainfall, accompanied by lightning, thunderstorms and snowfall on mountainous heights that are 900 meters above sea level.
On Wednesday, temperatures in will see significant and sharp drop and brisk winds that exceed 80 kilometres per hour is also expected in some areas, according to the JMD.
JMD director, Raed Al Khattab, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra), that the weather in the Kingdom is expected to see rainfall in various areas on Thursday afternoon and Friday, noting that the JMD information is subject to update in light of the developments in the weather situation.
The JMD report indicated that wind speed will cause dust in the Badia areas, and the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy, and showers of rain will fall from time to time in the western parts of the Kingdom. High mountainous areas are also expected to see scattered showers of snow, which may be mixed with rain at times. Late at night and as the cold air mass arrives, rain would fall regularly and cover most area of the Kingdom.
The JMD warned of low-visibility due to dust formation in Badia areas, occasional strong winds and slippery roads in areas of heavy rainfall as well as the low-visibility due to fog formation and the possibility of flood formation in the northern and central areas during the night.
