The Ministry of Health said Friday it recorded 12 deaths and 1579 cases of the coronavirus in the Kingdom, bringing the death toll to 4,433 and the total number of infections to 343,563.
The new cases were: 1181 in Amman, 152 in Irbid, including 18 in Ramtha district, 94 in Zarqa, 33 in Aqaba, 30 in Karak, 27 in Jerash, 26 in Balqaa, 12 in Mafraq, 11 in Madaba, 8 in Ajloun, 4 in Tafila, and one case in Maan, according to the daily brief by the Health ministry and the Prime Ministry.
It said current COVID-19 active cases reached 14,419, 113 were admitted to hospitals today and 67 were discharged.
It also said that 24,501 PCR tests were conducted today, bringing the total number of swab tests to 4,159,350, with a positivity rate for the day of about 6.44 per cent.
The Ministry urged strict adherence to defense orders and to follow preventive measures, especially wearing masks and avoiding gatherings of more than 20 people, as well as following the awareness campaigns it launched in partnership with a number of ministries and agencies to prevent infection, and to register to take the vaccine.
