Labor Minister and Minister of State for Investment Affairs Maen Qatamin Saturday announced the monthly list of sectors and economic activities hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic under Defense Order No. 6 and relevant circulars.
The ministry said in a press release that the government's decisions came in light of the ongoing halt of many sectors and economic activities, wholly or partially, due to the epidemiological situation and to mitigate the economic impact on the various sectors.
Qatamin said that a number of sectors were added to the list in view of their conditions and to help them overcome the economic repercussions of the pandemic, stressing that the monthly list is issued after reviewing the status of all sectors and economic activities through the ministries of labor and industry, trade and supply.
Top of this month's list, he said, are tourism facilities, including Hajj and Umrah, tourist facilities within the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, recruitment agencies, domestic workers recruitment, land and sea transport facilities, including international transport companies, aircraft supply and catering facilities, aircraft maintenance services, passenger services, duty free shops, branches of establishments operating at airports and border crossings, public transport entities, and facilities for organizing parties, festivals, conferences and exhibitions.
It also includes wedding halls and rental facilities for occasions, car rentals, vocational and technical training centers and academies, entertainment venues and public parks, cinemas and theaters, private sector museums, leather and weaving industries, Dead Sea products shops, university services offices, visa-issuing offices, clearance offices and companies, aviation and aircraft maintenance training establishments, publication and distribution entities, popular restaurants and cafes, wood and furniture industries, clothing, shoes and accessories facilities, paper newspapers, sports and entertainment clubs, swimming pools, bathhouses, sports centers and health clubs.
The list also includes smart transport and yellow cab companies, nursery and kindergarten facilities, educational and cultural centers, driver training centers, school facilities, beauty and bridal facilities, stationery and libraries, photography shops, media production studios, catering and drink facilities for parties and conferences, billiard and snooker recreational and sports centers, and electrical and electronic games shops.
