Jordan reports 3,260 new daily COVID-19 infections, 37 fatalities
AMMONNEWS - COVID-19 killed 37 people in Jordan within the last 24 hours as the death toll stands at 866 and some 3,259 cases were recorded, bringing the caseload to 75,866, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said Sunday.
In its daily briefing on the COVID-19 pandemic, the MoH said that 2,199 cases were recorded in Amman, 264 in Zarqa, 197 in Irbid, 118 in Maan, 88 in Aqaba, 86 in Ajloun, 85 in Madaba, 71 in Balqa, 66 in Karak, 42 in Mafraq, 35 in Tafilah and 8 in Jerash.
A total of 218 patients were admitted to hospitals as the total number of cases in hospitals surpasses 1,553, while the rest of the active cases are self-isolating.
In its effort to combat the spread of the disease, the epidemiological tracing teams conducted some 19,590 COVID-19 tests today, as the tally nears 1.88 million, the MoH added.
Amid a rising number of cases, the MoH urged people to abide by health measures, wearing masks and gloves, and to commit to defense orders that prohibit holding gatherings of more than 20 people, highlighting the importance of downloading the 'Aman' and 'Sihtak' apps.
