20 COVID-19 deaths, 1,505 cases, all local infections, recorded Saturday
AMMONNEWS - Some 1,500 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Saturday, pushing the caseload to at least 36,050, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
Most of the newly recorded cases were in Amman with 939 cases; 191 infections were recorded in Irbid, 181 in Zarqa, 42 in Maan, 39 in Mafraq, 36 in Balqa, 29 in Karak, 17 in Jerash, 15 in Aqaba, 7 in Ajloun, 6 in Tafilah and 3 in Madaba.
The MoH and the Prime Ministry stated that 20 people succumbed to the lung disease within the last 24 hours as the death toll in the Kingdom stands at 330.
Ninety-two COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals today as the total number of patients receiving medical treatment in hospitals tops 1,020 while the rest of active cases are being home quarantined, the statement read.
In the government's effort to stem the spread of the highly contagious virus, health authorities conducted 12,876 tests on Saturday as the total now surpasses 1.54 million. Eighty-one people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals.
Amid a rising number of cases, the MoH urged people to abide by health measures, wearing masks and gloves, and to commit to defense orders that prohibit holding gatherings of more than 20 people, highlighting the importance of downloading the 'Aman' and 'Sihtak' apps.
