Jordan reports 820 local Covid-19 infections, 6 fatalities
AMMONNEWS - A total of 823 coronavirus infections, including 820 local cases, and six deaths were reported Tuesday, Health Ministry announced.
With that, the total caseload has reached 10049 cases since the outbreak in March, while the death toll has stood at 57, according to a statement issued by Prime Ministry the Health Ministry.
The majority of today''s cases were recorded in Amman, which accounted for 476 cases, followed by Balqa (46), Zarqa (221), Irbid (24), Jerash (13), Karak (14), Mafraq (20), Aqaba (2), Madaba (2), Ma''an (1) and Ajloun (1), the statement said.
Three non-domestic cases were also recorded for people who had been staying in quarantine hotels, the statement read.
On a more positive note, the statement said 137 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals today, including 51 cases in Prince Hamzah Hospital, 80 cases in the Dead Sea, 3 cases are in Queen Alia Hospital and 3 cases in accredited private hospitals.
As for testing, the statement noted that 16851 tests were conducted Tuesday, pushing the total to 1204201 since outbreak of the pandemic.
Amid the alarming hike in domestic cases, the Health Ministry urged people to abide by defense orders (11) and (16) and to commit to safety measures and social distancing, warning against holding gatherings of more than 20 persons. It also highlighted the importance of downloading and using the 'Aman' and 'Sehtak' applications.
