Planning minister lauds Japan's assistance to Jordan
AMMONNEWS - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Wissam Rabadi, met with the Japanese ambassador to Jordan, Hidenao Yanagi, on the occasion of the end of his tenure in the country.
Speaking during the meeting, Rabadi lauded Japan's continued support to the Kingdom, and its 'understanding' of Jordan's economic and social challenges triggered by the repercussions of the region's crises.
According to a press release by the ministry on Thursday, Rabadi underlined the 'deep-rooted, historic' relations between the two countries, and the serious joint pursuit to strengthen ties by developing cooperation mechanisms in a number of areas of common interest and at various political, social and economic levels.
For his part, Yanagi lauded the the 'deep-rooted' 'strong' partnership relationship between Jordan and Japan, indicating Tokyo's continued keenness to provide support to the Kingdom to maintain its economic resilience, security and stability amid these difficult circumstances, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
To shed light on Tokyo's assiatance over 2009 to September 2020, Japan has provided nearly $1.7 billion to the Kingdom, of which $603.12 million was in grants to finance projects and budget support, while the rest was in the form of soft loans, in addition to technical assistance extended by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
