Health Minister: 99 local COVID-19 infections, 68 recoveries
AMMONNEWS - A total of 103 cases of coronavirus infections, including 99 local cases, were reported in the Kingdom on Tuesday, bringing the caseload since the start of the pandemic to 2581.
The cases were 4 people who came from the USA, Iraq and Egypt and were staying at quarantine hotels, 57 in Amman, 50 contacts with infected persons and 7 under investigation, 25 in Karak Governorate, recorded among contacts, 5 in Balqa Governorate, 7 in Zarqa and 3 in Jerash, while a 2 new deaths were recorded today and yesterday in the, bringing the total caseload to 19, Health Minister, Saad Jaber, said in a press conference held in the prime ministry on Tuesday.
Jaber said that since Friday, August 7, local infection have amounted to 1136, noting that investigation teams have conducted 12104 tests today, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 915469.
He also said that 68 Covid-19 patients have recovered, including 50 at a Dead Sea site for isolating people infected with the virus, and 18 at the Prince Hamza Government Hospital, bringing the total recovered patients since the start of the pandemic to 1902.
The Health Minister underlined that the hike in local infections requires caution, precaution and adherence to social distancing to protect the family and society, noting that the Kingdom's health capacities have increased by 80 percent in terms of equipment and cadres that have been trained to deal with the virus in the best ways, and the government has devised a plan with the National Center for Crisis Management accordingly.
'We may have to move to home quarantine for people who do not symptoms,' in response to the increasing number of infections, according to Jaber.
