Cabinet okays settlements with 42 individuals, corporate taxpayers
AMMONNEWS - The Cabinet on Tuesday approved settlements with 42 corporate and individual taxpayers upon a recommendation by an Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) committee.
According to the law, the Settlement and Reconciliation Committee examines requests by taxpayers seeking settlements with ISTD and forwards its recommendations to the minister of finance who in turn sends it to the cabinet for final approval.
The arrangement is intended to allow taxpayers to pay dues previously incurred, and reduce financial burdens resulting from the accumulation of taxes.
The Experts Society of Income and Sales Tax has commended the government’s move to allow for settlements with taxpayers, and urged all those concerned to utilize the arrangement and pay due tax amounts.
