40 local Covid-19 cases, including 30 local cases, reported
AMMONNEWS - Forty new infections with the novel the coronavirus (Covid-19), including 30 local cases, were reported on Tuesday in the Kingdom, bringing the caseload since the outbreak of the pandemic to 1438, the Health Ministry announced.
The new infections include 24 cases in Amman, all of which for contacts of previously infected persons, most of whom work at a factory that was shutdown since cases started to appear (12 Egyptian nationals, 6 Jordanians, 5 Syrian nationals and 1 case under investigation), 3 cases in the northern city of Ar-Ramtha, all of which for contacts of previously infected persons, 2 cases in the Zarqa governorate (east of Amman), which came in contact with previously infected persons and 1 case for an Egyptian expat at the Al-Omari border crossing, media briefing issued by the Prime Ministry and the Health Ministry.
Ten imported cases were also reported for people arrived from abroad and were residing in quarantine-designated hotels (5 from Saudi Arabia, 1 from Qatar and 1 from Ukraine), and 3 Jordanian truck drivers, who arrived at the Al-Omari border crossing.
According to the briefing, 2 new cases of recovery were recorded in the Prince Hamza Hospital.
Additionally, 6989 Covid-19 laboratory tests were conducted, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 705,920.
In light of the increasing number of local infections, the health ministry called on citizens to comply with the Defense Order No. (11) of 2020, adhere to safety and prevention standards, wear masks, avoid holding gatherings for more than 20 people, and use the 'Aman' and 'Sehtak' apps.
