39 new Covid-19 cases, including 31 local infections, recorded on Sunday
AMMONNEWS - Thirty nine new infections with the novel the coronavirus (Covid-19), including 31 local case, were reported on Sunday in the Kingdom, bringing the caseload to 1378.
The news infections include 19 local cases in the northern city of Ramtha all of whom were contacts of previous confirmed cases, 11 cases in Amman (10 of which are contacts of previous confirmed cases and one case under investigation to determine the cause of the infection) and one case in the Balqa' governorate (northwest of Amman) under investigation to determine the cause of the infection, according to the briefing issued by the Prime Ministry and the Health Ministry.
Eight imported cases were also reported for people residing in quarantine-designated hotels (1 from Kuwait, 4 from Saudi Arabia, 2 from the United States, and 1 from Canada).
According to the briefing, 7 new cases of recovery were recorded, including 5 cases in the quarantine-designated area in the Dead Sea, and 2 cases in the Prince Hamza Hospital.
Additionally, 6409 Covid-19 laboratory tests were conducted, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 692,760.
As of Monday, the Ramtha city will be isolated from the rest of the Irbid governorate's cities, and the other governorates of the Kingdom, starting at 6am. The isolation will continues until the epidemiological situation in the city allows for the lifting of the isolation, amid the increase in local Covid-19 cases in the city.
The curfew hours within the Ramtha city will start from 8pm until 6am, as of tomorrow, while businesses will be allowed to open outside the curfew hours.
As for activating Defense Order No. (11) of 2020, it will continue. This order obliges owners of establishments and individuals to adhere to the utmost caution and prevention, as well as imposing penalties on every facility in which its employees or its visitors do not adhere to wearing masks or neglect measures of prevention.
The partial curfew hours will also be from 12am until 6am for citizens, and from 11pm until 6am for the commercial sectors.
The health ministry called on citizens to adhere to safety and prevention standards, wear masks, avoid holding gatherings for more than 20 people, and use the 'Aman' and 'Sehtak' apps.
