Minister : No nationwide lockdowns at current stage
AMMONNEWS - There will be neither total nor nationwide lockdowns at the current stage, State Minister for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh announced on Saturday evening, adding that any closure and isolation decisions will be taken at the levels of cities, governorates, areas or even buildings.
Speaking from the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, Adaileh said the government had set criteria for every governorate, city or region in which cases of infection increase, given that the epidemiological situation differs from one region to another, and from one governorate to another.
He explained that these area-specific criteria are meant to spare the nation a total lockdown and, at the same time, minimize community spread, noting that nationwide closures have economic and social costs.
Adaileh, who is also the government's official spokesperson, appealed to the public to stay vigilant and abide by health safety protocols.
