AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, has received on Thursday a phone call from his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, during which they discussed efforts made by the two countries to develop cooperation and coordination.
The duo also discussed regional developments and ways to address them in a way that contributes to solving the region's crises and achieving security and stability.
During the phone conversation, the Iraqi top diplomat briefed Safadi on developments in northern Iraq in light of the military operations carried out by Turkey.
In this context, Safadi stressed the need to respect Iraq's security and sovereignty and 'contain' the escalating tension through dialogue, in a way that ensures Iraqi-Turkish relations are based on the principle of good neighborliness, and non-interference in internal affairs, aimed to protect their legitimate common interests.
Safadi stressed the Kingdom's 'absolute' support to Iraq in the process of boosting its security, stability and reconstruction process, as well as protecting its security, stability and sovereignty, and keeping it away from regional conflicts.
The duo affirmed the two countries' keenness to enhance cooperation in all fields, in a way that reflects their 'strategic, historic and brotherly' relations.
