FM holds talks with Luxembourg counterpart on Mideast issues
AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi discussed with Luxembourg's Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn efforts to re-launch 'serious' negotiations to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
In a discussion over the telephone, the ministers reviewed regional and international positions and endeavors to halt Israel's plan to annex occupied Palestinian territory, denouncing the move as a violation of international law that would undermine the two-state solution.
Safadi commended Luxembourg's position warning of the risks of annexation and rejecting any change that Israel tries to impose in the occupied Palestinian territories, stressing the importance of the European countries' role to 'a real horizon' for achieving a just peace based on the two-state solution and in accordance with international law.
Asselborn hailed the Kingdom's role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to achieve peace and stability in the region.
