AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi and his Iraqi counterpart, Dr. Fouad Hussein, discussed steps being taken by the two brotherly countries to enhance 'historic, brotherly' relations and increase cooperation in all fields.
During a phone call he made on Sunday with the Iraqi top diplomat, the duo affirmed continuation of practical steps to implement the cooperation agreements signed by the Kingdom and Iraq in the energy, industry, trade, investment, health, education, defense and the anti-terrorism areas.
The ministers said the bilateral ties are 'strategic' and reiterated the two countries' keenness to take practical steps to serve the common interests.
Moreover, the ministers reviewed ways to increase the cooperation prospects between the Kingdom, Iraq and Egypt in the context of the tripartite cooperation mechanism jointly adopted by the countries' leaders.
This mechanism, they affirmed, is an 'institutional' framework to increase cooperation and integration and serve the trilateral interests, paving way for pan- Arab cooperation.
Stressing support to Iraq, Safadi said the Kingdom firmly stands by Iraq with its 'full capabilities' and backs the Iraqi governments' efforts to rebuild and protect Iraq’s security, stability and sovereignty.
For his part, Hussein appreciated the Kingdom's stances in support of Iraq, its interests and sovereignty, stressing the importance of the efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II to enhance security and stability in the region.
