FM, Portuguese counterpart discuss cooperation on tackling coronavirus
AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and his Portuguese counterpart Augusto Santos Silva held talks over the phone Wednesday for a discussion on bolstering cooperation between the two countries to address the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.
The top diplomats highlighted the effort exerted to crystalize an international stance that would prevent Israel from following through on its decision to annex Palestinian territories in the occupied West Bank, which has been under occupation since 1967, the world's longest ongoing occupation.
The efforts are aimed at bringing back the Palestinians and Israelis to the negotiating table and reinvigorating the peace talks based on the two-state solution and international resolutions.
Safadi underlined the important European role in making Israel backtrack on its annexation decision and protecting all prospects for achieving peace from such an unprecedented threat.
The foreign ministers agreed to continue communication and coordination on various regional developments as they stressed the importance of enhancing the bilateral cooperation in all fields.
