15 new COVID-19 infections, 1 local, 5 recovered on Tuesday
AMMONNEWS - 15 new infections with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in the Kingdom on Tuesday, one of which was locally-transmitted, bringing the total number of infections since the start of the pandemic to 1198.
The newly 15 recorded cases are for one person who came in contact with an infected case in Amman that was in self-quarantine, was tested negative a week ago and retested positive today, according to the press briefing issued by the government and the Health Ministry.
The building, where this person was residing in Jabal Al Nuzha in Amman, was quarantined and all its residents have been tested, the ministry added.
On the remaining 14 cases, they were for Jordanians coming from abroad, who were residing at quarantine-designated hotels (13 from Saudi Arabia, and 1 from Turkey), the ministry noted.
According to the briefing, 5 cases have recovered at Prince Hamzah Hospital, in addition to conducting 5647 laboratory tests, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the outbreak of the pandemic to 477448.
The Ministry noted that the current epidemiological situation at the level of (moderate risk) will be kept as is, after recording one local infection today, and therefore the transition to a low-risk level is only possible if ten consecutive days have passed without recording any local cases.
It also reiterated the need to adhere to preventive measures, wear masks, physical distancing, use of the 'Aman' app to alert users if they were in contact with an infected person, and contribute to the early detection of virus-related cases.
