AMMONNEWS - A total of five new COVID-19 cases were reported in the Kingdom on Tuesday, non of which were local, bringing the caseload to 1,047 across the Kingdom, according to Health Minister Saed Jaber.
In a daily briefing, the Minister said three of the cases were for Jordanians who have recently been repatriated home from Saudi Arabia, one case from Egypt and one case from Qatar.
On a positive note, 21 patients recovered today and were discharged from the Prince Hamza public hospital in Amman in the past 24 hours, bringing the total recovered cases to 772, while 141 case are still under treatment.
As for testing, 5,264 tests were conducted today, bringing the total to more than 341,161 so far, Jaber noted. He explained that the tests are 10 times more than what the WHO recommends.
In response to a question on conducting professional unions and parliamentary elections, Jaber emphasized that the Epidemiology Committee recommended that elections, of any type, should not be held.
This is based on the health matrix, which indicates that a meeting of more than 20 people in one place constitutes a threat to the epidemiological situation, stating that if the Kingdom reaches the green stage of not reporting any infection for ten days in a raw, lifting the current partial lockdown completely will be considered.
The health minister pointed out that the Ministry began testing e-bracelet on a limited number of quarantined cases, to examine its effectiveness, which allows to consider reducing the duration of the quarantine and receive additional numbers of Jordanians abroad.
