FM carries message of solidarity to Palestinian president
AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, conveyed a verbal message from His Majesty King Abdullah to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas that stressed on Jordan's full support to the legitimate rights of the Palestinians based on the two-state solution.
The message also tackled the exerted efforts to halt Israeli plans to annex territories in the occupied West Bank, in order to achieve just and permanent peace in the Middle East region.
Safadi also conveyed His Majesty's greetings and condolences over the death of President Abbas' sister daughter.
The minister, after a joint press statements with his Palestinian counterpart Riyadh al-Maliki, said that an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital is the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.
For his part, al-Maliki said that: ' As you know, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, namely, His Majesty the King, are exerting huge efforts worldwide, as it was clear yesterday in His Majesty's contacts with the US House of Representatives and its committees, and a number of interviews to mobilize a wider international stance against the Israeli policy of annexation.'
