AMMONNEWS - Nine new COVID-19 infections with the coronavirus were recorded in the Kingdom on Tuesday, pushing the caseload to 755 since the outbreak of the pandemic in early March.
Breaking down the new cases, a statement by the prime ministry said they include two staff members of a hotel designated to quarantine Jordanians who recently arrived from foreign countries.
Three of the cases were of Jordanians who returned from Russia, the USA and Qatar and were placed under quarantine since their arrival. The rest of the cases were truck drivers (one Jordanian and there Arab nationals), who were diagnosed on the Omari border crossing with Saudi Arabia.
On a more positive note, the statement said that 14 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals today, adding that 5,819 tests were conducted today bringing the total to 198,879 since the beginning of the crisis.
In the statement, the government urged the public to abide by advisories published by health and other concerned authorities, in addition to following proper hygiene practices.
It further noted that more than 250,000 people are currently using the 'Aman' smartphone app, which alerts users when they are suspected of having been exposed to COVID-19 and when they have been in contact with an infected person.
