23 New COVID-19 cases recorded in Jordan on Wednesday, caseload at 672
AMMONNEWS - A total of 23 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Jordan on Wednesday pushing the caseload to 672 since the outbreak of the pandemic in early March, including 151 active cases, Minister of Health Saad Jabir announced this evening.
Following is a breakdown of the new cases recorded today:
- Two cases were discovered in the Mafraq governorate. Investigations are underway now to pinpoint the source of infection.
- Seven truck drivers, including 3 Jordanians, tested positive for the virus at the Omary border crossing with Saudi Arabia. The total number of infected truck drivers has reached 113 so far.
- Seven family members tested positive for the virus in the capital Amman. They contracted the disease from an infected truck driver. The building where the new infections were detected was isolated 4 days ago.
- A woman has arrived infected from Saudi Arabia and is now receiving treatment.
- Two new cases were reported in the Irbid governorate, including a truck driver who returned home before all truck drivers were required to stay in quarantine upon their arrival from abroad. The second case contracted the disease from a truck driver in the Mafraq governorate.
- The wife of an infected person in the Zarqa tested positive for the virus.
- Three cases were detected for those who have recently been flown back to the Kingdom from abroad and have been in quarantine since then.
Jabir revealed that a total of 4,133 samples were tested on Wednesday.
