AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, announced lockdown will be in force next Friday, according to the mechanism that was applied during the past weeks.
The comprehensive curfew will extend for 24 hours, starting Friday at 12:01 am through Saturday, 12:00 am., according to the minister.
Speaking during a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management on Wednesday, Adaileh said the gradual mitigation of the curfew procedures, and operations resumption of various sectors require tightening measures at times, in a bid to curb the possible infection transmission, which drives weekend lockdowns.
Regarding inquiries on procedures to be applied during the Eid al-Fitr period, Adaileh said decisions have not yet been taken in this regard, and the procedures are still being studied.
'We will announce the decisions as soon as they are taken; but it is expected that there will be strict measures at times during Eid holiday, ' he pointed out.
Adaileh also said the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic is still continuing, and the danger is present, adding : 'Therefore, all precautions and preventive measures must be taken, like banning exchanging visits, holding gatherings and other festive aspects during the Eid period.'
On the rumors circulated Tuesday, alleging some new returnees didn't enter the precautionary quarantine, he said all Jordanians returning from abroad are subject to the 17-day quarantine period in the designated sites.
'No quarantined returnee will be allowed to leave home before this prescribed period has passed. Everything that is otherwise circulated is completely false,' Adaileh pointed out.
The return trips for the second group of Jordanians stranded abroad and students will start midMay, he notedز
To facilitate measures on the citizens, avoid overcrowding, and demand for ticket reservations, offices of the Royal Jordanian will be opened in the capital Amman and the governorates of Irbid, Aqaba, Zarqa, Karak,in coordination with the crisis cell, he pointed out.
