Fatwa Department to look for crescent moon on Thursday
AMMONNEWS - The Fatwa Department will look for the crescent moon at sunset on Thursday, which means that the fasting month of Ramadan will begin either Friday or Saturday, the Kingdom’s grand mufti, Sheikh Abdul Karim Khasawneh, said on Wednesday.
'A crescent moon sighting ceremony will be conducted after Thursday’s sunset with a limited number of attendees, in line with government’s measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus' he added.
If the sighting is confirmed, Muslims in Jordan will start fasting on Friday, as the crescent marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
