PSD: 273 vehicles impounded, 596 arrested for flouting curfew
AMMONNEWS - Police impounded 273 vehicles and arrested 596 persons in the past 24 hours, for violating the curfew imposed to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Public Security Department (PSD).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Department's spokesperson said 'all security personnel are working around the clock to control violations against the orders issued under the Defense Law,' stressing that the police will not tolerate any breach of the current rules.
The seized vehicles will be transferred to impound yards designated for this purpose in Muwaqqar and Swaqa, he further said, adding that fines will be levied upon the owners when they receive their vehicles after one month.
