AMMONNEWS - State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Amjad al-Adaileh affirmed that His Majesty King Abdullah II is constantly following up on the government's procedures and decisions, and directing it to take the necessary measures to protect citizens.
During a press briefing held on Wednesday, al-Adaileh said the public's response to these decisions and measures, indicates great awareness of their importance in protecting the community.
He stressed that these decisions aim at protecting the citizens' health and maintaining their safety, voicing hope that this crisis blows over.
He thanked Jordanians for their understanding of the precautionary and preventive measures, and adherence to the Cabinet's decisions.
The State Minister also commended the local community's initiatives aimed at supporting the government's efforts to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially companies that donated to the Health Ministry.
He underscored that Jordan's food stockpile is secured, and that it is available in sufficient quantities, adding that points of sale of basic goods are continuously supplied.
The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply is monitoring these points of sale to protect consumers, he stated, pointing out that some may take advantage of the crisis by raising prices or monopolizing certain goods.
Al-Adaileh stressed that supervisory authorities will take legal measures against these individuals, including closing the store.
He stated that the concerned government teams have held several meetings, chaired by the Prime Minister Omar Razaz, to discuss measures to protect the national economy and alleviate burdens on citizens.
