Gov't mulls over coronavirus ramifications, forms teams
AMMONNEWS - The Council of Ministers, Sunday, held a meeting to discuss the fallout of the emerging coronavirus COVID-19 and mechanisms for dealing with it against the backof local and international developments.
Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, who headed the meeting, underscored the importance of concerted efforts of all parties and institutions to deal with this global epidemic, and reduce its impact and chances of it being spread as much as possible.
Razzaz highlighted the importance of the measures taken by the government to deal with the virus, stressing the need to adhere to them, and to monitor their implementation, in order to ensure the safety and protection of the people.
To that end, the Council of Ministers has decided to form 10 government teams to ensure continuity of work and oversee the repercussions of the virus issue, chief of which are: the Health Care Team headed by the Minister of Health, the Organization and Follow-up for Border Crossings Affairs and Airports headed by the Minister of Interior, and the Social Protection Team, headed by the Minister of Social Development, in addition to the Strategic Inventory Team, headed by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply.
Also, the Education Team headed by the Minister of Education, the Business Continuity Team headed by the Minister of Labor, the Field Administration Team, headed by the Minister of the Interior, the Media Follow-up, Awareness and Education Team headed by the Minister of State for Media Affairs, the National Economy Protection Team headed by the Minister of Finance, and the Legal Affairs Team headed by Minister of Justice.
