Water Ministry warns public as depression forecast
AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Water and Irrigation urged the public to take precautions during the weather instability which will affect the kingdom on Thursday.
In a statement, the ministry's Secretary General Ali Subah called on citizens, farmers, livestock keepers, and municipalities to take warnings seriously during these extreme weather conditions, advising to avoid valleys and areas where torrents are likely to form, and to protect their property and agricultural facilities as sudden flows may occur in a short time especially near water channels.
'The depression, which begins tomorrow evening, will affect the southern regions, and deepen on Friday and Saturday morning to include the eastern, central and northern regions. It may be accompanied by heavy rains and thunderstorms in most areas,' he added.
In case of severe rainfall, Subah instructed the public not to connect their rain gutters to the sewage networks to avoid flooding of manholes, as well as other negative practices, including throwing garbage randomly, which causes closures of drainages.
The ministry also urged the public to contact the hotline number 117116 in the event of complaints or emergencies.
