House panel condemns US ambassador's remarks on annexation of West Bank
AMMONNEWS - The Lower House's Palestine Committee on Saturday denounced remarks by US ambassador to Israel David Friedman backing annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank.
Head of the committee Yahya Al-Saud called the statement a 'flagrant violation of international legitimacy,' adding that the US administration's position that Israel had the right to annex an occupied territory is 'a war crime under international law.'
'This declared position is a departure from the internationally-backed two-state solution, and constitutes a total bias to the positions of the Israeli right, which denies the Palestinian people's existence and their legitimate national rights,' he added.
