Chilly front with rain prevails Sunday, rise in temps Monday
AMMONNEWS - The Kingdom on Sunday remains under the effect of the cold and wet air mass. Therefore, cold and partly cloudy conditions will prevail with rainfall at times in many parts of the country, according to Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).
The impact of the cold front is expected to taper off at night, as clouds will gradually decrease with less chance of rain. Freeze formation is also forecast over the highlands and the Badia areas, the JMD said in its daily brief.
Mercury levels will rise few degrees on Monday, becoming around their seasonal average, but it will remain cold in most regains and pleasant in the Jordan Valley and Aqaba with low-altitude clouds and southeasterly to southwesterly moderate to brisk winds, the JMD added.
On Tuesday, a slight in temperatures is expected as cold conditions will continue to prevail with clouds at various altitudes and a chance for scattered showers at night, mainly in the northern areas. Winds will be southwesterly brisk, blowing dust in the Badia areas, the JMD noted.
Mercury levels expected for today will reach 8 degrees Celsius in Amman and 12 in the northern cities, dipping to 3 and 5 overnight. The southern region will feel a high of 8 degrees Celsius, dropping down to zero degree, while in the port city of Aqaba, thermometers will stand at 19 degrees Celsius, sliding to 11 degrees at night.
