AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi met on Monday with his Iraqi counterpart Mohamed Alhakim in Geneva to discuss ways of cementing cooperation between the two countries, and developments in the region.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Global Refugee Forum in Geneva, where the ministers reaffirmed the 'strategic relations' between the two countries, and 'their keenness on further enhancing cooperation to new levels that reflect the historical relations and serve common interests.'
Safadi reiterated that Jordan stands by 'brotherly' Iraq in facing challenges, consolidating stability and achieving the aspirations of its people.
Iraq's stability, he said, is pivotal to regional stability, reiterating support for the country in its bid to establish stability and start reconstruction after defeating terrorism.
Safadi said that His Majesty King Abdullah II had directed that Jordan support 'this process with all its potentials and to enhance cooperation with Iraq in all fields.'
The Iraqi minister said that his country deems development of relations with the Kingdom as a priority that reflects positively on the two countries, noting the progress made in cooperation and coordination in various fields.
