AMMONNEWS - State Minister for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh said on Monday that the cabinet will today take the necessary legal and legislative measures to carry out His Majesty King Abdullah II's directive to merge the Gendarmerie and Civil Defence Departments into the Public Security Department.
He said that the King's letter to Prime Minister Omar Razzaz to immediately start with the merger process was 'very clear' as it underlines the importance of its outcome as it saves money to the treasury, streamlines management and improves performance.
The minister made the remarks at a press conference he held at the Prime Ministry with the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and the Audit Bureau President to speak about the government's measures to address the violations in the Audit Bureau's annual report.
