Drug smuggling attempt foiled at Northern Military Zone
AMMONNEWS - An armed forces unit of the Northern Military Zone early Saturday thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs into the country, according to a Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army source.
It said that troops applied the rules of engagement as they monitored a number of persons trying to approach the Jordanian border and forced them to retreat inside Syrian territory.
'A search of the area led to the seizure of several bags containing 262,000 Captagon, 4,509 Lyrica, 3,756 Galica, and 2,660 Tramadol pills, which were referred to the competent authorities,' the source said.
It warned that the armed forces will not hesitate to use force against anyone trying to breach the border, either for infiltration or smuggling, and that the protection of the borders is a key pillar of the Kingdom's security and stability.
