Administrative court decision orders halt to teachers strike
AMMONNEWS - The Administrative Court on Sunday ruled to suspend an open teachers' strike after the parents of two students filed lawsuits demanding an end to the strike.
In its verdict, the court ordered a halt to the strike now until a final ruling is issued.
Maher Kurdieh, father of high school student Subhi, and Majdi Asfor, father of student Ghazel, filed a complaint against the Jordan Teachers Association (JTA) and the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Waleed Maani, to halt the implementation of decision number (381/2019), which announced the open strike as of 8 September, 2019, and proposed a 50-percent pay rise.
