AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday held talks at the Bellevue Presidential Palace in Berlin with President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on relations between the two countries and ways of cementing bilateral cooperation in the various fields.
The two leaders underlined the solid strategic and historic Jordanian-German relations, and the King valued the support provided by Berlin to many development projects.
The talks also dealt with regional issues and the need to find political solutions to the crises.
The leaders stressed the continuation of coordination and consultation between the two countries on various issues of common interest 'in a manner to contribute to achieving peace and enhancing security and stability in the region.'
His Majesty stressed the importance of intensifying international efforts in rejecting all unilateral measures that would undermine the two-state solution as the only solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, according to which an independent Palestinian state will be established on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and that lives in peace and security alongside Israel.
For his part, the German President stressed the importance of Jordan's role, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, in achieving security and stability in the region, pointing to the humanitarian role played by the Kingdom in shouldering the burden of refugees.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the King's Advisor for Communication and Coordination, the Jordanian Ambassador in Berlin, and a number of German officials.
