Cabinet approves draft law on work permits fees for non-Jordanian workers
AMMONNEWS - The Council of Ministers approved at its meeting on Monday, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, a draft law on the fees of work permits for non-Jordanian workers for 2019.
Minister of Labor Nidal Batayneh stated that in the context of the government's efforts to control and regulate the labor market and address imbalances in some aspects, the Council of Ministers decided at its meeting today to approve the system of fees for work permits for non-Jordanian workers for 2019.
Batayneh revealed that this system came to fix the fees of work permits for many sectors at JOD500, and the setting of new work permits fees, as a reform measure in the labor sector, in addition to the issuance of two new types of work permits, the first of which is the daily work permit (free permit), the second is the permit of workers with specialized skills.
The minister said that in light of the presence of illegal migrant workers, a number of reforms were needed in the Jordanian labor market to regulate it, in addition to the need of finding new mechanisms to urge Jordanian youth to join the labor market after empowering and training them.
He pointed out that the new fees system will take effect from the date of its publication in the official gazette, while the Council of Ministers' decision on rectifying the conditions of foreign workers will be applied, starting from the date the fees system goes into effect.
