Gov't mulling measures to stimulate economic growth, says minister
AMMONNEWS - The government is working on adopting a set of measures and to tackle the imbalances and obstacles facing the economy to spur its growth by strengthening the partnership between the private and public sector, Minister of State for Media Affairs, Jumana Ghunaimat said Sunday.
In a meeting she held with representatives form the official media outlets in Amman, the minister said that with regard to smuggling, the government's task is to provide protection measures to ensure competitiveness and eschew the Public Treasury from incurring losses due to smuggling.
She pointed out that the resumption of exporting Iraqi oil into Jordan is an indicator of the 'distinguished' relationship between the two countries.
Furthermore, Ghunaimat said that the Jordanian borders with Syria will remain open to allow for the voluntary return of Syrian refugees to their country as part of its international commitments and charters of human rights.
