Authorities arrest 61 people in the 9th week of crackdown on unlicensed weapons
AMMONNEWS - As part of its nationwide campaign to combat festive firing and confiscate unlicensed firearms, the Public Security Department (PSD) on Wednesday announced that it had arrested 61 suspects found in possession of 67 unlicensed firearms during the 9th week of its crackdown.
Since the start of its campaign on June 27, 811 people were arrested in possession of 962 firearms, the PSD said in a statement on Wednesday.
The campaign is ongoing, the statement added, urging the public to report any incident by contacting 911 to report shootings anonymously.
