79 arrested in police crackdown on unlicensed firearms
AMMONNEWS - During the seventh week of its nationwide campaign to combat discharging firearms in public and the possession of unlicensed weapons, the Public Security Department (PSD) announced Thursday the arrest of 79 suspects reportedly found in possession of 83 unlicensed firearms.
The campaign, which began on June 27, resulted in the apprehension of 673 suspects in total, and the seizure of 761 weapons.
The department reiterated that its personnel will continue to hunt down owners of illegal weapons and those who misuse them, lauding citizens who carried out their civic duty in denouncing this act or reporting it to the police.
The PSD urged the public to call 911 and report any shooting incidents.
