AMMONNEWS - The Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Sufian Qudah, said the Minister Ayman Safadi directed the Jordanian Ambassador in Kazakhstan to travel to the city of Atyrau (2500 km away from the capital, Nurstlan/Astana) to check on the injured Jordanians working with the Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) there and to follow up on the investigations.
Qudah pointed out that a crisis cell has been formed around the clock within the embassy to follow up on the latest developments and to communicate with the concerned authorities in the Kazakh capital.
He added that five of the 107 Jordanians working at the site were slightly injured during the attack and they were taken to hospital and left after receiving treatment and they are in good condition.
He stressed that the ministry has contacted the company in the Republic of Kazakhstan and in Amman to ensure that the injured receive all their rights.
Qudah explained that the Jordanian ambassador in Kazakhstan officially requested the competent authorities in Astana to take all necessary measures to ensure immediate security protection for all Jordanian citizens there.
He added that the Kazakh authorities have responded to the request of the Jordanian embassy and that things are now under the control of security and all citizens accompanied by security protection were transferred from that area to Atyrau.
The official spokesperson said the embassy continues to communicate with all Jordanians working to check on their situation and secure their needs.
He noted that the operations centers in the ministry received more than eighty calls from the Jordanians' families and they were reassured of their conditions.
If there is any information regarding the injury of any Jordanian citizen, there is immediate contact with the Jordanian Embassy in Kazakhstan or with the Operations Center at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the phone No. 0096279549777 round the clock, Qudah concluded.
