AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Monday met with a delegation of women members of the US House of Representatives and the committees on the armed forces, appropriations and energy and trade, led by Rep. Susan Davis.
They discussed Jordanian-US relations and regional developments, especially those related to the Palestinian issue and the challenges facing efforts to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, in addition to the Syrian crisis and the war on terrorism.
Safadi briefed the delegation on the burdens shouldered by the Kingdom as a result of the Syrian refugee crisis.
He also spoke about the economic reform programs the Kingdom had launched to address economic challenges, many of which had resulted from or were exacerbated by regional crises that hit Jordan in many aspects.
Jordan, he said, is dealing with exceptional circumstances due to the repercussions of the regional crises, which require exceptional international action to help it cope with these circumstances and their negative impact on its economy and development process.
He stressed the depth of the strategic partnership between the Kingdom and the United States, hailing Washington's support to the Kingdom in various financial, economic, development and defense fields.
For her part, Davis highlighted His Majesty King Abdullah's efforts to achieve regional security and stability and combat terrorism, stressing continued US support of Jordan as a strategic partner.
